What Cats Really Think About Our Odd Human Habits
Welcome to the Wednesday Cats of Catster! Each week, we present a captivating story from one of our devoted Catster fans. This edition features Crystal and her beloved feline, Ivy.

We often regard cats as humorous, delightful, intelligent, and occasionally quirky creatures. However, have you ever pondered what cats think about us?
During my daily routines—such as scrubbing the bathroom, washing clothes, or returning home laden with groceries—I notice Ivy’s curious gaze upon me, her expression revealing what I can only interpret as confusion. This leads me to wonder: what thoughts race through her mind?

Strange Human Rituals
One of the most bewildering habits for cats must be our daily ritual of shedding clothes and immersing ourselves in a large tub or stream of water. While we soak ourselves, they likely question our sanity, especially considering their general aversion to water.
When we return from grocery shopping, do cats think we’ve been hunting? And why do we stash some food in a huge, cold box? It’s curious how their food magically reappears without them lifting a paw.

The Mystery of Communication
We often engage in conversations, yet not with them. Instead, we speak to a voice emanating from a device, expressing emotions such as laughter, tears, or anger. Our lengthy phone calls must baffle them as we seem absorbed in talking to someone invisible.
Our nightly routines frequently involve staring at a large, luminous screen. We might laugh, cry, or remain expressionless for extended periods. It’s indeed a peculiar sight from a cat’s perspective.

The Cleaning Conundrum
After our cats meticulously claim their territory by rubbing against objects, we come along and erase their scent with bizarre-smelling cleaning products. This must be incomprehensible to them.
Following the cleaning, there’s the infamous vacuum, which must seem like a monstrous entity to our feline friends. Its loud noise and invasive nature likely make them feel threatened.

The Peculiarities of Fashion
It’s common for us to cover our feet with strange materials before stepping outside. This behavior must appear utterly baffling to them. As I contemplate this from a cat’s viewpoint, I can’t help but feel we seem highly inefficient, especially when it comes to climbing trees or escaping danger.
Why do unfamiliar, noisy, and oddly scented strangers invade their domain? Furthermore, why do these strangers attempt to pick them up and pet them? If someone approached you out of the blue and lifted you, it would certainly raise concerns.
Ivy has witnessed (and caused) my clumsiness on countless occasions. Does she perceive me as weak and incapable because I can’t land gracefully like her? It’s undeniably embarrassing to fall under the watchful gaze of your cat.
Coexisting with humans must provide endless confusion—and amusement—for our feline companions! Their silent assessments are likely sharper (and more humorous) than we can ever fathom.
Did I overlook any peculiar human behaviors that you believe cats find puzzling?
