Florida Family’s Chihuahua Endures Disturbing HVAC Incident
A routine air conditioning maintenance visit in Sanford, Florida, turned into a shocking event for a family when their beloved senior Chihuahua, Boomer, was allegedly harmed in the safety of his own home. On August 24, 2026, while the 12-year-old, 5-pound dog was left with another canine companion, an HVAC technician was working in the residence. What began as a standard service quickly escalated into a distressing situation when a pet monitoring camera captured an alarming incident that would soon lead to an arrest.

The Disturbing Footage
This pet monitoring camera, cleverly integrated into a dog treat dispenser, recorded the technician’s actions while he was inside the home. Boomer’s owner, Ryan Menzies, shared that his wife was monitoring the live feed when she noticed the tiny Chihuahua approaching the technician. According to the Sanford Police Department, the disturbing footage showed the technician kicking Boomer with enough force to render the small dog unconscious, leaving him alone for several seconds after the alleged abuse.
The revelation was devastating for Boomer’s family. Menzies recalled his shock as he watched the footage while at work, overwhelmed by the horrifying scene.
“I was standing in the parking garage at work and I said out loud, ‘Oh my God,’ and almost started crying,” Menzies recounted. “Then anger took over.”
Boomer’s Recovery Journey
Following the incident, the family provided the video evidence to the Sanford police, leading to the arrest of 43-year-old Richardson Noel on charges of aggravated animal cruelty. Noel was later released on bond, with court proceedings ahead. The family’s primary concern was Boomer’s health. Being a small, elderly dog, the impact from the kick raised serious worries about potential injuries. They promptly took him to a veterinarian for assessment.

Fortunately, the veterinary examination yielded positive news. Menzies stated that the veterinarians found no broken bones, and Boomer did not exhibit signs of favoring any part of his body. However, there remained concerns about potential internal bruising that might not be immediately visible.
“They said nothing is broken. He’s not favoring anything,” Menzies said. “We think he might have some internal bruising that you obviously wouldn’t be able to see.”
Boomer has since returned home, where his family can closely monitor his recovery. Menzies reported that the senior Chihuahua has been enjoying treats, resting, and gradually reverting to his playful self. These small signs of recovery have provided some solace after the unsettling experience. While Boomer may not comprehend why this distressing incident occurred, he is back in the embrace of those who love him and can offer him a secure environment for healing.

Future Precautions for Home Maintenance
This incident has prompted the family to reconsider how they manage future maintenance visits. Menzies mentioned that they now plan to either ensure someone is home during service appointments or to keep their dogs securely behind closed doors. At the time of the incident, only one camera was operational inside their home, which happened to be the one attached to Boomer’s treat dispenser. Menzies expressed gratitude that it was recording, as the footage documented an event that could have easily gone unnoticed.
For the time being, Boomer has returned to the place where his family wants him most. After a harrowing experience in his own home, the little Chihuahua is resting, savoring his treats, and gradually returning to the joyful dog his owners have always cherished.
